Being a New Yorker has never felt so good as it has the past few days. Seeing what Manhattan holds, the things I have brushed off so easily, makes me so happy. The simple things: The birds, the honking of the cars in the traffic, the people rushing and running to get a cab or onto the bus.
I love Manhattan, especially around the holidays. They have the tree lighting and filling the city with joy. The decorations, the smell of hot chocolate filling the air, the first, light snowflakes falling from the sky. If you didn't know me any better, you'd say I haven't lived here my whole life. The way I am so surprised with how things look, as if they haven't always looked this way for the past years. But it's not like that at all. The sight gets lovelier and lovelier with each passing year, it leaves me breathless.
Yesterday night, my daddy and I drove to the Upper East Side to pick up two bikes for him to fix, from a girl named Melina who was formally on his bike team a few years back. I was taken back by how lovely it looked - It seemed like forever since I was in the city at night, and in a way, it was true. The last time I was in the city at night DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON was, well, last year. It's so beautiful.
Today, I'm going to Long Island with my mom and brother to Broadway Mall. Window shopping is nice, and I'm excited for Macy's. I'm excited to see how this mall decorated the stores!
Have a lovely day and I'll update with pictures later.
Lots of love and happy smiles.
xoxo, Megan
